Life changingThis was recommended to me by my 6 year old daughter’s pediatrician after I relayed that she was having major tantrums on an almost daily basis. I ordered the book, started reading, and immediately put the suggestions to use. She stopped the hour long tantrums the next day! We’ve only been doing this a couple of weeks now, and I’m definitely not perfect about not energizing the negative (and my husband is not on board at all yet), but the improvements so far are nothing short of amazing!

Not What I ExpectedAfter hearing a friend (who is a family therapist) talk about this book with rave reviews, I was convinced it could help me, so I bought it that same night. When it arrived I was sorely disappointed. I expected a workbook that accompanied the book, with questions and activities to make me think about my parenting and my child differently. However, this book is almost all text to read, with very little actual work to do, and it was just very disappointing. I returned it.

If you are at your wits end this is for you!!!!!This is becoming a lifesaver with our granddaughter. A highly intense child that had no calm areas in her life very angry with tantrums that could easily last three hours yelling and screaming. Three months in with lots for us to learn. Reduced yelling and screaming to minutes rather than hours. The anger cloud is still just under the surface if we hit the wrong triggers, but it is happening less and less and the happy smiles and happy child is coming to the surface.

Knowledge is a great tool in understanding the sensitive child! My Daughter suggested this book for our Grandson when we care for him after school! Very insightful tools to help manage occasional intense emotions. We all are impressed with his growth and happiness rather than feeling unsure of what he goes through when rare mood swings happen! The book is s delight!

The best book everI do not normally get much out of these books. This is an exception. It is an example of how we should talk to people, not just children. I highly recommend this to parents!!!

Life changing book! This wonderful book helps shift energy in interactions with intense children. It is written in a way that is easy to understand and remember so your own energy can go into learning and practicing finding what is great in any given moment. It is so refreshing so have a resource that truly focuses on greatness in any given moment while explaining how energy can become upside down unintentionally and how to flip things right side up. If you are struggling in what feels like endless negative energy cycles with any child I highly recommend this book and anything else by Howard Glasser or Nurtured Heart Approach. It truly shows how to nurture the hearts of children and also adults.

For us this approach failed. The premise is to find the good in your child and celebrate that. I tried a similar idea with my kids and they wanted to know why I was talking so weird. So for us this was a fail.
